I am always interested in buying low-mileage carbureted BMW F650 motorcycles, Funduro or ST, that may have been neglected in terms of maintenance over the years but are in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. Please contact me if you have one to sell or know of one for sale. Flash412 AT Comcast DOT net
Nice, well-maintained WHITE 1998 BMW FUNDURO dual-sport adventure bike FOR SALE.
The BIKE HAS BEEN SOLD.
Freshly serviced and ready to ride. This bike is quite nice, but not absolutely pristine. It has a few minor signs of its age and use. It certainly is a sweet bike both in general appearance and running.
Galfter Wave rear rotor
Odometer - The switch in the center of the dash is for the heated grips; up for high, down for low and center-off.
Dash - There is another switch below the clock that controlled auxillary lighting.
As the lights have been removed, it presently does nothing.
Fork boots, stainless steel brake line and FIAMM dual-tone high-low horns.
Voltage regulator has been relocated to the sidecover and the original mounting holes plugged.
Shots taken at most recent service
Inside of valve cover
Drain plug - as removed and before reinstallation
This bike has been recently serviced and completely gone over. It has fresh oil, plenty of tire tread and needs nothing. Here is a link to the complete service & maintenance records and notes. (Potential buyers might want to download and use a viewer allowing it to be rotated.) While everything in these notes has been done to the bike, not everything done to the bike was captured in the records.
A set of three service and maintenance DVDs I created which (mostly) feature this exact bike will accompany the sale. You can either watch or else download entire DVDs from here.
A wiring diagram I created is available here. A maintenance worksheet I created that is more comprehensive than what the factory suggests is available here. You only need to print the actual worksheet which is the last page. Some of it should probably be updated. For example these days most folks use sealed, maintenance-free batteries and no one has ever found anything trapped in the oil tank screen.
I bought this bike with a little over 2000 miles in late 1999. Many of modifications were made to the bike and accessories and after-market parts added. Most of these modifications have recently been reversed. This means that the gas tank, fairing, side covers, seat and shock absorber were recently replaced by items with only about 6000 miles on them. The windshield is new. Accessories still mounted are: stainless steel front brake line, dual-tone FIAMM horns, F650GS voltage regulator (relocated for better cooling), Galfer Wave rear brake disk, fork boots, heated grips and factory hand guards. Many of the fasteners have been replaced with bolts of better quality than OEM.
A factory tool kit (pictured above) accompanies the bike. I have a used model-specific Clymer Manual is available for purchase ($15). This bike is ready to ride and needs nothing other than a full tank of fuel.
These photos are available in a higher resolution.
