Rare (in the USA) Black 1996 BMW F650 Funduro - UNDER CONTRACT

The BLACK BIKE is the one for sale in this section. The white bike is only there to show you the difference between the earlier and later Funduro models.
The FAIRING is the majority of the difference between the 94-96 Funduros which were NOT IMPORTED INTO THE USA and the 97-2000 Funduros.
Pay particular attention to the front TURN SIGNAL. See how the the turn signal was integrated into the fairing of the earlier model.

The BLACK BIKE is the one FOR SALE here. The white bike pictured here is a '98.

Here is a detail photo of the front turn signal from the 1996 bike that is for sale here.

See below how the small fairing bits, the "engine covers" were redesigned.

While the gas tank from the earlier bikes can be directly exchanged with later models, the gas cap on the earlier models is slightly different in that there is no hinge. When you unlock it, the gas cap is removed. The later models have a clock to the left in the instrument cluster. The earlier models have a TEMPERATURE GAUGE. Why BMW decided a clock was more useful than a temperature gauge I cannot imagine. The later models had a sidestand cut-out switch to disable the ignition. The earlier models had a spring-loaded, auto-retracting sidestand. Someone has (thank fully) disabled the spring-loaded "feature" of the side stand in this example. Other than these small items, the earlier and later Funduros are identical. In fact, one COULD order the 1996 fairing pieces and windshield and attach them to a 1997-2000 Funduro. Or, one could retrofit a later model fairing to this bike.

This well-kept bike has about 33,600 miles and comes with a complete service history. The most recent service was in May 2008 when it received an oil and filter change, fork seals were replaced with the fork oil, brake fluid was changed, coolant change and several other service items. At that time a new Yuasa battery and new Metzler Tourance tires were installed. This bike has a Givi aftermarket windshield that provides excellent wind protection without buffeting. Windshields cannot be exchanged between the earlier and later model fairings. The bike comes with a factory toolkit as well as the original pair of owner's manuals (which are different from the later owner's manuals). Factory hand guards and crash bars have been installed. Fork boots and a rear stainless steel brakeline are included aftermarket upgrades. The rear brake disk was replaced about 2400 miles ago. The seat has been nicely refurbished and recovered in gray leather. A zipfile of a few more photos is here. The bike was legally imported and has a clear Colorado title.

This RARE (in the USA) gem is now UNDER CONTRACT

1999-2000 Cagiva Gran Canyon - Information ONLY

2000 Cagiva Gran Canyon

When it comes to Italian dual-sport adventure touring bikes, the Gran Canyon is the son of the Cagiva/Ducati Elefants and father of the Multistrada.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Cagiva_Gran_Canyon2 is a great online support community. Many aftermarket accessories are available: centerstands from two manufacturers, Motoport aluminum-can saddlebag mounts, Givi luggage mounts (bags & topcase), Nonfango (similar to Givi) luggage and mounts (bags & topcase), and Hepko-Becker guard bars are some model-specific items. The Cagiva factory offered color-matched luggage that occasionally pops up on eBay.

The Gran Canyon is similar to the Cagiva Navigator which was not imported to the USA. When Cagiva sold off Ducati to the Texas Investment Group, a provision in the deal specified that Ducati would supply motors for the Gran Canyon for two production years, '99 and '00, which they did. The arrangement was to be revisited and possibly renewed if both companies agreed. When the time for renewall arrived, Ducati was already working on the (fugly) Multistrada and declined Cagiva's request for engines. Cagiva turned to Suzuki for v-twin TL1000 motors. After a few modifications, the Gran Canyon became the Navigator. The Navigator, from what I can find, was manufactured at least through 2005. This is the reason that body parts for the Gran Canyon are still readily available. Last year I bought a fairing (bat hat) for another Gran Canyon that I own. It took about three weeks to arrive from Italy and cost only thirty-seven dollars. Color-Rite sells perfectly matched "Gran Canyon Red" paint. Obtaining parts for this bike is not at all the challenge that some folks think it is. Cagiva North America owns MV Agusta and has a dealer network. Here is a link to the Gran Canyon on the Cagiva website, which includes a list of dealers, tech specs, photos and reviews. In addition to dealers, after market places like Twisted Throttle offer various accessories.

A one square foot "pizza plate" that bolts to the luggage rack is available for sale. LOTS of gear could be strapped on there.
